The success of dental implant treatment is well evidenced in the literature, however with increasing numbers of implants placed and time in-situ, the ability to provide complication free treatment is becoming a concern. Peri-implant problems have become an ever-increasing problem for dentists and dental companies, with much of the recent focus on implant surfaces and connections as well as how to manage complications. Biological and technical complications along with increasing demands from patients for natural aesthetics are challenging as well as problems that are here to stay. The importance of comprehensive diagnosis, treatment planning and execution is paramount in treating implant patients. This presentation will cover the common pitfalls that Dr Ho has seen over the last 20 years in prosthodontic and implant practice. Tips will be shared on how to overcome these problems, and importantly how to avoid or at least minimise them in the first place.
