Dr Philip Tan BDSc, Grad Dip Clin Dent, MSD, Grad Cert Pros, FPFA, MRACDS Philip Tan is a registered specialist prosthodontist. He completed his undergraduate education in Melbourne before working in general practice in West Gippsland. After a further year of study in the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Dentistry program, Philip then travelled to the USA to complete his specialist training. A further two years was spent working in the USA and teaching at the University of Iowa. Since graduation, Philip has published multiple papers and lectured on a variety of scientific and clinical topics, including treatment planning decisions, restorative techniques for compromised teeth, use of ceramics with implants, magnification for prosthodontics, and the accuracy of CAD/CAM systems. Several prosthodontic awards have been received as a result of these endeavours. Philip is an active reviewer for the Journal of Prosthodontics and forum moderator for the ADAVB. He enjoys the challenge of applying the scientific process to the evolving questions in dentistry. Philip has been back in Melbourne since 2006 and currently works in full time private practice in Cheltenham and enjoys providing all aspects of prosthodontic care. Philip’s current interest is the implementation of digital technology to everyday practice.
