Description

Tooth resorption remains a challenging condition in clinical dental practice due to diagnostic complexity, inconsistent terminology, and uncertainty surrounding treatment planning and prognosis. The absence of a universally accepted classification system has created confusion regarding the identification and management of resorptive lesions.

The International Association for Dental Traumatology (IADT), in collaboration with the Dental Trauma Guide (DTG), has developed a comprehensive classification system for tooth resorption and associated conditions. This lecture will introduce the classification with a strong focus on practical clinical application.

Participants will gain a clearer understanding of terminology, biological processes, radiographic interpretation, diagnosis, and clinical decision-making. Clinical cases, CBCT examples, diagnostic protocols, and treatment outcomes will demonstrate how the system can be applied in everyday practice. Management principles, referral considerations, prognosis assessment, and long-term monitoring will also be discussed.

Explain the IADT classification of tooth resorption, including terminology, biological processes, resorption types, and clinical and radiographic diagnosis.
