COURSE OUTLINE
With the emergence of dental lasers in the late part of last century, the knowledge and understanding of lasers has increased tremendously with applications in many areas including soft and hard tissue surgeries and photobiomodulation. Dr Yue will discuss the use of erbium lasers in periodontal treatment. With successful clinical applications and more supporting evidences about the effects of laser on bacterial and inflammatory response reduction, it is compelling to relook at how we can manage this common dental disease. He will detail his Drill-less Implant Placement protocol for implantology. With PIPS technology, we explore how to disinfect root canals to a level beyond conventional methods. The role of laser in aesthetic treatment is huge with use in cosmetic crown lengthening, gum bleaching, wrinkle reduction and lip enhancement therapy. The new area of Sleep Dental Medicine with snoring reduction with laser will be presented. The field of Photobiomodulation is extremely exciting with new understanding of how human cells interact with light energy to bring about enhanced healing and pain modulation. Use of lasers in TMD management will be highlighted. This lecture is a true opportunity to have a new focus for light therapy in dentistry.
